Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) is Austria’s national promotional bank. As one-stop-shop for business promotion and services it is set up to realize the key objectives of the Austrian government’s economic policies. aws was created in 2002 by pooling the knowledge of four existing organizations – the BÜRGES-promotional bank for SMEs (1954), the Financing Guarantee Company (1969), the Innovation Agency (1984) and the ERP Fund (1962).

 

aws offers a broad range of company-specific investment promotion programmes and services, especially for small and medium sized companies (SME). It offers financial assistance in the form of soft loans, guarantees, grants and/or equity as well as consultancy services in its three core business segments – Start-up, Business growth and Innovation. Main objective is to promote economic growth, jobs and regional structural change by fostering innovation & technology, networking, cooperation, sustainable development and internationalization.

 

aws works in close cooperation with regional authorities, especially with the provinces of Austria and is member of several national & international networks, e.g. Austrian Association of Technology Centers (AATC), Cluster Platform Austria. Furthermore, aws cooperates with international financial institutions and European partner organisations, e.g. Network of European Financial Institutions for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (NEFI) and Association Européenne du Cautionnement Mutuel (AECM).
