North - West RDA (Romania)

The North-West Regional Development Agency is a non-government, non-profit organization of public utility that operates in the field of regional development, representing the executive body of the Regional Development Council of the North-West Development Region. The Regional Development Council is formed by representatives of the 6 county councils, 6 municipalities, 6 town halls and 6 rural communes. The North-West Region (Northern Transylvania) was established according to Law 151/1998 (modified by Law 315/2004) by the voluntary association of the local public administrations from Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Cluj, Maramures, Satu-Mare and Salaj counties. It is not and administrative territorial unit, neither is it a legal entity but it is the executive body of the North-West Regional Development Council. Main roles of the Agency are the following: • increasing the competitiveness of the region, particularly that of SMEs; • diminishing the existing regional disparities; • correlating the sectoral government policies at regional level by stimulating regional initiatives and by making use of the local and regional resources for the sustainable long-term socio-economical development of the region; • stimulating cooperation at interregional, national and international level. The goal of the North-West RDA is to implement the economic and social cohesion policies in the region, to promote and implement regional development programmes and to provide services needed by communities and investors, with a view of maximizing the economic and social benefits in the region. http://www.nord-vest.ro/
